Nederland, in de nabije toekomst: de parlementaire democratie en het koningshuis bestaan niet meer. Ergens achter een afgelegen asperge- annex stripclubboerderij ploetert een handjevol illegalen op het land. Eén van hen is de Marokkaanse Joes, die met zijn overactieve neef Hamid naar ons land is gekomen.
Joes koestert een stille liefde voor de Roemeense Mila. Als er op een dag een inval van de vreemdelingenpolitie is en er in de ontstane paniek brand uitbreekt, redt Joes Mila's leven, maar verliest daarbij zelf het bewustzijn. Wanneer hij wakker wordt, blijkt Joes tot een soort nationale held geworden te zijn. Presidentskandidaat Vlonder, die achter staat in de peilingen, wil hem als running mate. Joes heeft er eigenlijk geen zin in, maar Hamid ziet het grote geld en haalt hem over. Joes blijkt een goede uitwerking te hebben op de kiezers en wordt prompt gebombardeerd tot presidentskandidaat. Dat blijkt een gouden zet: Joes wordt verkozen tot president, maar is hij wel geschikt voor deze enorme taak?

The Netherlands, in the near future: the parliamentary democracy and the royal family no longer exist. Somewhere in a remote farm a couple of illegal immigrants are working on the land. One of them is the Maroccan Joes, who travelled here with his hyperactive cousin Hamid.
Joes has a secret admiration for the Romanian Mila. When the immigration police invades the farm and a fire starts, he saves her life, but loses consciousness as a result. When he wakes up, Joes appears to have become a national hero. Presidential candidate Vlonder, who is behind in the polls, wants to have him as running mate. Joes doesn't feel like it in the first place, but his cousin Hamid smells big money and persuades him. Suprisingly, Joes turns out to be the big hit the voters have been waiting for and becomes presidential candidate. The voters are on his side, so he wins the elections. But is he cut out for this kind of responsible job?
