Film project 'Eilanden'

What will be the memory of the future? What is it that you want to preserve? With the film project ‘Eilanden’ the Zeeuws Museum records the contemporary culture of Zeeland. Zeeland consists of a couple of islands; the Zeeuwse archipelago. This formed a unique culture of unity and diversity in nature and culture.

The Zeeuws Museum has been existing for 50 years now and portrays the culture of the islands by collecting film material from inhabitants and visitors. The museum asks you to record with your camera or mobile phone the thing that you wish to preserve. By collecting film material from the inhabitants the Zeeuws Museum creates an archive with visual memories that portray the developments in the local contemporary culture. What makes Zeeland unique?

Four filmmakers will be working with the material. The films and documentaries they make will be presented during Film by the Sea 2012.

You can follow the project ‘Eilanden’ from 9 September onwards at www.eilanden.net
