Film project Eilanden

still life in a day - tony and ridley scottThe Zeeuws Museum (Zeeland Museum) celebrates its fifty years existence this year. This anniversary inspired the museum and Film by the Sea to set up a film project calles ‘Eilanden’ (Isles) after the many islands you find in the Dutch province of Zeeland. Inhabitants, visitors and lovers of Zeeland will be asked to make a film in which they answer the question ‘What is it you wish to preserve?’.

By letting as many people as possible answer this question an archive will be made of visual moments and memories  that show developments in current local culture. Sometime in 2012 several films will be made from the raw material. These films will be shown during Film by the Sea 2012.

The Film Life in a Day,  which will be shown seen during Film by the Sea 2011, was a big source of inspiration for this project. The first screening of Life in a Day takes place on Monday 12 September. This is also the kick-off of the project ‘Eilanden’.
